Hello!

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, where I research the politics and history of educational policy. I am on the 2026-2027 job market.

As a scholar of education and American political development, I study historical and contemporary linkages between social movements and education policy. Broadly, I examine how educational leadership serves as a cornerstone of pluralist democracy. I use historical archival methods, semi-structured interviews, policy analysis, and systematic reviews.

My work has received support from the 2026-2027 National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship, the Social Science Research Council, and the Institute of Education Sciences.  Before doctoral study, I was a high school history instructor and dean at the Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn, New York. I designed and led trips to the U.S. South for students’ place-based learning of the Black freedom struggle.
